ALL FOR LOVE'S SAKE ©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Bitter tears have to fall
And hearts have to break
And doors have to close
All for love's sake

Angry words must be spoken
In voices that quake
And worlds have to shatter
All for love's sake CHORUS

CHORUS
When you're feeling like the world has forgotten
And you've taken about all that you can take
Then you see the next day in a new light
All for love's sake

Tears have to fall
In joys gentle wake
And windows will open
All for love's sake

Love words are spoken
And much is at stake
When giving your heart
All for love's sake CHORUS

Choir Of Angels ©

Ruth A. Bloomquist

Sometimes at night alone in darkness
When the world becomes too small
When my fears all take over
And I know without help I will fall

CHORUS
That's when I sing with choirs of angels
That's when I feel His light on me
That's when I sing with choirs of angels
Yes I do
Yes I do
I know I do

In times of strife and mortal fury
When His peace cannot be seen
I turn my heart and eyes to heaven
For I know through the storm He'll carry me CHORUS

In times of joy and glad elation
I know the sourse is His own hand
I will dance and sing his praises
Til the day at his side I will stand CHORUS

Daddy Dance ©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Carly's daddy goes to work each day
Building other people's dreams
Just to make thier lives a little finer
He comes home sore and tired and even satisfied
And as his eyes begin to close
Carly's by his side

CHORUS
Daddy dance
Daddy dance
And he holds her close and glides across the floor
Daddy dance
Daddy dance
When a dream comes true you dare not ask for more

Carly's daddy likes to reminisce
About his younger days
With stories of fast cars and motorcycles
Restless and unbridled another young imortal
And in the middle of it all he stops
And wipes off Carly's chin CHORUS

Well sometimes magic happens
Without the smoke and flash
It's in the way she looks at you
And the tiny hand you clasp CHORUS

Let her dreams come true and he will not ask for more

HERE AND MINE©

Ruth A. Bloomquist

Here's where I wanna be
With you here next to me
Watching the seasons go
On thier way
Here's where I wanna stay
With you here every day
Watching our children grow
On thier way CHORUS

CHORUS If the world should end tomorrow
My one regret is time
But for awhile
You were here and mine

Here's where my heart will dwell
Safe, warm and tended well
So near the beat
Of your own
Here's where my love will live
Close now so I can give
All that I am
For you to own CHORUS

Here's where I wanna stay
Through sunshine and skies of grey
Here with your hand holding mine
And here's what I want to say
Thank you for each new day
I can't believe you really are mine CHORUS

I Don't Remember A Waltz©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

She was a wide eyed beauty
Some thought that she'd never stay
Some thought the town was too small for her dreams
Some thought that she'd fly away
But one night at the midsummer fair
A boy caught her eye from the edge of the crowd
They danced to the songs that the old boys remember
Some thought they were dancing on clouds

CHORUS
He said
I don't remember a waltz
But that's what she said that we danced to that night
I just remember the stars and her eyes
But I don't remember a waltz

The days and the months flowed together
They courted and married and stayed
They worked the land with thier backs and thier hands
They raised thier children and prayed
The dust brought tears to thier eyes
The floods washed thier crops clean away
But somehow thier love held them tight to the land
And dreams of the past they'd replay CHORUS

Now she's still a wide eyed beauty
Though silver now touches her hair
And her dreams are still grand for the town and the land
And he knows she won't fly away
At night now they dance in the kitchen
She says remember the first waltz we had
Remember the moon and the stars at midsummer
Remember the girl and the lad

And he says
I don't remember a waltz
But that's what you said that we danced to that night
I just remember the stars and your eyes
But I don't remember a waltz.

I don't remember a waltz
But that's what you said that we danced to that night
I just remember the stars
But I don't remember a waltz

I Love You Only ©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I'm not much good at writing letters
I just stare at the page
And the words I would tell you
Just fade into space
So I'm writing you this love song
And I hope that you'll hear
That I miss you and I love you
And I wish you were here

CHORUS
The days are so long
And the nights go too slowly
And maybe in this song
You'll hear I love you only

I know you're restless and alone
In that place far away
And your day's filled with strangers
With not much to say
I'll keep loving you fron a distance
Even if you can't hear
Cause I miss you and I love you
And I wish you were here

I'm not much good at writing letters
I hope this song finds its way
Across the miles and the heartache
That part us each day
And if you're listening all alone
And you might shed a tear
You'll know I miss you and I love you
And I wish you were here

Love Is Like That©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

The last thing I remember
Before the lights went out
Was the hollow sound of shoes upon the floor
There was no time to struggle
Not even tome to shout
I was falling through the air then nothing more

CHORUS
Sometimes love is like that
Without warning it hits you from behind
Sometimes love is so fast
You wonder how you'd ever been so blind

The next thing I remember
Was a knock upon my door
And voices that I did not recognize
Who knew cupid's arrow
Would make another score
And I would be the one to get the prize

The last thing I remember
Before I took the vow
Was a little voice deep inside my brain
Making me to wonder
Just how I got to now
And how I got to feel love's sweet sweet pain

Sleep And Dream ©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I watch your peaceful face while you lie sleeping
Travelling through a dreamland far away from me
I wonder what the secrets are you're keeping
I'll hold you close so mine's the first face you see

Chorus
Sleep and dream
Dream of me
Know I am here
I'll keep you safe and I will dry away your tears

I hear your heartbeat and your steady breathing
The rhythm of life like music all across my night
I touch your hand the skin is warm and I'm needing
All of your love to help me make it through this life

I think about our love that's in your keeping
All of the days and nights we struggled to get here
I see the future like the morning creeping
Cuddle up closer now there's nothing to fear

Sometimes ©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Sometimes I feel like flying
Sometimes I soar like a dove
Sometimes I feel like crying
Could it be that I'm falling in love

Turning and turning out of control
Burning and burning deep in my soul
Sometimes I feel like flying
Could it be that I'm falling in love

Sometimes I feel like singing
The song I feel in my heart
Sometimes I feel like bringing you
A gift of the moon and the stars

Turning and turning out of control
Burning and burning down deep in my soul
Sometimes I feel like singing
Could it be that I'm falling in love

Sometimes I feel like dancing
Let the music take me away
Sometimes I feel like romancing
Oh please let this feeling stay

Turning and turning out of control
Burning and burning down deep in my soul
Sometimes I feel like dancing
Could it be that I'm falling in love

Sometimes I feel like dancing
Could it be that I'm falling in love

THAT'S A GAME©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Love makes the heart beat fast
And sometimes it lasts & lasts
But sometimes it ends
And somebody takes the fall

To some it's a game they play
the rules change from day to day
Sometimes they win
Sometimes they lose

Chorus
Now ring-around-the -rosie
That's a game
Nobody's hurt if you stop
And walk away

Where do the lovers go
Does anyone really know
Who really won
& who got the worst of all

Some have enough to eat
And Some have a place to sleep
But it's not enough
If you eat and sleep alone Chorus

If love makes a fool of you
And breaks a heart that's true
Time will replace
The pieces you thought were lost Chorus

TIME WAS©

by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Is it too late to change my mind
Is it too late to say we'll try
Is it too late to make the time stand still
Is it too late to change my mind CHORUS

CHORUS
Time was that you loved me
I never questioned that you did
I was wrong to think it over
Can you find room to forgive

Is it too late to start again
Is it too late to make it last
Is it too late to bind our hearts as one
Is it too late to start again CHORUS

How can I make it up to you
How can I show you that I care
How can I help you try and trust again
How can I make it up to you CHORUS

How can I wipe away your tears
How can I ease your aching heart
How can I prove that I was wrong to turn away
How can I wipe away your tears CHORUS

High As A Mountain ©2005
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I found a hidden mountain
That I’m afraid to climb
Up there’s a wealth of treasure
I hope to claim as mine

Your love is like that mountain
So far and out of reach
And every time I glimpse it
My heart skips a beat

CHORUS
Your love is high as a mountain
Cold as stone
Wide as a river
And hard to hold

I found a raging river
That I’m afraid to cross
I see the far shore shining
And hope that I’m not lost

Your love is like that river
Your tears a swelling tide
I want to dry them
And be close by your side CHORUS

I found a guarded fortress
No windows doors or gate
Inside there is a prisoner
Looking for escape

Your love is like that fortress
With walls of cold cold stone
If only I could reach you
You’d never be alone CHORUS

Weary Heart Of Stone © 2003
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I have seen love come and go
Just like the winter snow
I have walked that path you know
And I have hoed that row
And all I got for all my time
Is a weary heart of stone
Is a weary heart of stone

I have heard those words before
On the wind and at my door
I know all those words and more
But the melody’s unsure
And all I got from that sad old song
Is a weary heart of stone
Is a weary heart of stone

I will take love’s hand again
Just to see what it will bring
I will watch and I will bend
I will let it take me in
Cause all I got from me to lose
Is this weary heart of stone
Is this weary heart of stone

I KNOW LOVE© 2001
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

CHORUS

I know love
It’s not the hearts and flowers
Young girls are dreaming of
I know you
You make love brand new

When I first met you
you were too good to be true
But Love’s a swinging door
That’s easy to walk thru
But you’re still here my love
You missed your exit cue
You’re kind of love is something new CHORUS

Well I won’t say that love
Is not a rocky road
I keep my eyes on the curves as I go
Since you’re still here my love
There’s something you should know
In your arms I can’t say no CHORUS

Patience they say is a virtue
So I’m told
The test of time will tell
If Love will soon grow cold
But here and now my love
If I may be so bold
When you are near you touch my soul CHORUS

In Your Heart©2005
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

CHORUS
You gotta let him go
You gotta learn to fly
You gotta take the shackles off
You gotta mean that last goodbye
Cause it’s dark & getting darker here
In your heart

It was a good day when you met him
It was love at first sight
There was magic int he morning
And music every night

But even fairy tales get ugly
When the ogre come to call
It’s the genie in the bottle
That has taken it all CHORUS

He was Prince Charming on a white horse
He was a hero in your eyes
Everybody seemed to love him
Was he really such a prize

But the hero now has fallen
You couldn’t save him on your own
Yet you think you are responsible
And you’re tortured and alone CHORUS

If he wanted what you had
He would put it all away
He would wrestle with his demons
Pay any price he had to pay CHORUS

Just Like The Wind© 2005
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Too many times I’ve lied to myself
Too many times I’ve been wrong
Too many times you used my poor heart
Too many times I’ve been strong

CHORUS
But it’s all over now It’s your turn to cry
It’s time for me to move along
You’ll remember me like a sad sweet song
And just like the wind I’ll be gone

Too many nights I waited til dawn
Too many nights I slept alone
Too many days you begged me to stay
Too many days I went along

Too many times I asked for your love
Too many times I had to crawl
Too many times you said I was to blame
Too many times I went along

He’s Not You © 2004
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I walked all the way to Kentucky
Hoping things would change in time
Hoping that maybe you’d miss me
Enough to change your mind

I still hear the last words you said dear
Before I walked out of town
In my ears I still hear your regrets dear
As I try to swallow it down CHORUS

CHORUS

I’m sorry to tell you I was wrong
Could you release me from our bond
You see there’s another I love oh so true
I’m sorry, I’m sorry, he’s not you

As I walked west over the mountains
Trying to forget what had been
I could see your eyes in the blue Virginia sky
And your heart in the cold mountain stream CHORUS

Each day I think I’m farther from caring
I don’t weep in the sun anymore
I only cry when the moon’s in the sky
But your voice is still hard to ignore CHORUS

LOVE GOES ROUND© 2005
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Love goes round like a circus wheel
High above the crowd stars in our eyes
Then it goes down back to earth again
And love’s sweet desire turns to lonely sighs

CHORUS
But we reach out for love each time it comes around
It’s the brass ring that transforms the saddest clown
We keep reaching, reaching, reaching for that prize
To see that loving look in another’s eyes

Love goes round like a painted horse
Going up and down & round, & round & round
The music stops all the lights go out
But love echoes still Without a sound CHORUS

BRIDGE
So we ride again no matter what the ticket costs
Cause what we gain outweighs what we lost

Put Down That Beer and Dance © 2004
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I know she broke your heart
A heart so true and dear
She ran around all over town
Now you sit here crying in your beer

CHORUS
It’s time to leave that barstool
And take another chance
It’s time to stop your cryin’
Put down that beer and dance
She wasn’t worth a second glance
So put down that beer and dance

I know she promised you the moon
But those cheatin’ arms weren’t true
And you found them wrapped ‘round someone new
Now you’re sitting here alone and blue

You know she won’t come back
She made that very clear
She took everything you had
Then walked away without a tear

One Day Ain’t Enough©2004
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I been thinking about you and me
‘bout what we got and what we need
And I decided to tell you now
Just how much you mean to me

CHORUS
But one day ain’t enough
To tell you of my love
Like the full moon up above
One day ain’t enough

I was lonely when you arrived
Confused and all beat up inside
And you decided to take my hand
From that day you turned the tide CHORUS

I Been counting all they years
All the laughs and all the tears
And it’s decided here & now
Till the end of time my path is clear CHORUS

Left By The Side of The Road ©11/1/02
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

Left on the side of the road
A rusty old bike and a stuffed dog named Mike with stories untold
Now just old
Once they were objects of dreams
Once they were shiny and shown with a child’s own glee
Or so it seemed

CHORUS
Now it’s just junk on the side of the road
And the world hurries by they don’t want to know
Of Life’s bit’s and pieces and love’s broken trust
Left by the wayside to turn into dust

She sits on the side of the bed
All of the angry and unloving words floating through her head
He’s gone he said
Once she was loved like the sun
Once She believed the love that they had could not be undone
Now she’s numb

He waits alone in the dark
Sometimes a phone call Sometimes a walk in the park
He lost his spark
Once he was able and strong
Once he had family and friends who would need him but now they’re gone
But he lives on

I Will Doubt It No More © 2001
by Ruth A. Bloomquist

I dreamed that I saw them together
Standing there inside the Pearly Gates
Holding hands and smiling at each other
Now I know why mama couldn’t wait

CHORUS

I will doubt it no more
Now I know that heaven will be my reward
I will walk with Jesus upon that distant shore
Free from fear and doubt forevermore

In my dream I saw Jesus in the distance
Standing there beside the angel band
Singing and dancing with the others
Then He turned to show I had a place to stand CHORUS

Now I’m sure that when my days are over
I will see the ones that went before
And there will be a place for me in heaven
Free from fear and doubt forevermore CHORUS
